Longlasting Change
Couples tend to seek my support to understand how the patterns of fighting and moving away from each other repeat in their relationship and to find tools to change them. Through our work, couples and relationships tend to engage in more compassionate communication, feel less overwhelmed, have less conflict, and less escalation. Here, I create a space where you can remember who you are to each other, and through that intentional connection, you can begin rebuilding trust.
As a therapist, I am compassionate, straightforward, and work systemically, which means that I will aim to understand how everyone plays a part in repeating patterns. It does take two (or more!) to tango. My trauma-informed background allows me to understand how past trauma influences your current relationship; we work on processing and healing the parts of the past that are showing up today. I also work from a relational perspective and use attachment theory, somatic approaches, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and the Gottman Method to understand a relationship's emotional and behavioral dynamics and increase intentional communication, intimacy, and emotional regulation.
I offer short-term counseling for partners who are not sure whether they want to stay together and need clarity. Or longer-term counseling for partners who want to reconnect, move through transitions, or decrease the intensity and level of their escalation.
I also work with ethical non-monogamy, poly relationships, and I am sex and kink positive!
