Julie Wensel, MA, LMFT

Welcome!
Here I give you a space to get real, for you to regroup, notice and explore your patterns and needs, and increase self-compassion. I create a safe space to help you process traumatic experiences or daily stressors at your own pace while respecting and increasing your tolerance. I help you reconnect to your nervous system and your strengths, develop tools and deal with whatever may be overwhelming you and pulling you back.
In my philosophy, I believe in collaborative work, you are the expert in yourself and your experiences, and like any human, you have the resilience to feel better.
I look forward to creating a safe space for you to explore yourself and your deepest thoughts, feelings, longings, and wishes.

Our Process

Our process together will be organic, you will get comfy, and we will check in, and I'll create a safe space for you to explore yourself and your deepest thoughts, feelings, longings, goals, and wishes. I teach you calming tools for a deeper sense of grounding and empower you to move past the effects of trauma, religious trauma, and other overwhelming struggles. If you've had a recent traumatic experience or have had trauma that wasn't resolved by talk therapy, I may implement a deeper therapeutic intervention called brainspotting, which will help you process, release trauma and anxiety, emotional distress, and somatic pain stored in the deep brain.

I believe that understanding and being able to soothe our bodies helps us move through traumatic experiences, reduces anxiety and depression, and improves self-understanding. I have also been multiculturally trained to explore how your intersectionality (age, gender, identity, race, ethnicity, ability, etc.) may play a part in your struggles and the stress you may experience.
This only scratches the surface of what our work will look like in practice.
